Causes of piles
As you age, your risk of getting piles increases. That happens because the tissues that support the veins in your rectum and anus can debilitate and stretch. Pregnancy also increases the risk of getting piles because the baby’s weight puts extreme pressure on the anal region.
The veins around your anus tend to elongate under pressure and may inflate or swell. Piles can develop from increased pressure in the lower rectum due to several reasons like:

Symptoms of Piles
Sometimes there are no symptoms, and the patient may not even realize that they have any piles. On the other hand, some patients may suffer from varied symptoms depending on the size, position, and severity of their hemorrhoids.
- 1. A visible bright red blood spot after your bowel movement.
- 2. An itchy anus.
- 3. Feeling constipated.
- 4. Slimy mucus after your bowel movement or on toilet paper after wiping your bottom.
- 5. Lumps around your anus.
- 6. Pain around your anus or discomfort.
Diagnosis of Piles
If you feel all of the fore-mentioned symptoms, you should fix an appointment with a general physician. The physician would then insert a gloved finger into the anus to feel the rectum and try to feel the presence of any lumps. They might also use a proctoscope to view the insides of the rectum.
A blood test is usually required to check if one is suffering from anemia. It is a condition where red blood cells are lower than average. Whether the state of the affected area is severe or not is judged after this blood report.
